This is the estate's great Barbaresco cuvée, produced only in great vintages, as Riserva requires. But here Riserva does not mean long ageing that tires the wine, quite the contrary. The wine is dazzlingly pure and obvious, with its nose of truffle and cherry liqueur, which precedes a sensual, airy palate. It seems to have made itself, what a charm!

Technique

Viticulture

Founded in 1939, just as the Second World War was beginning, this family estate is literally being reborn, under the leadership of Walter Lodali and his mother, the sparkling Rita. For this cuvée, which is in fact a Riserva, the estate selects its best grapes from the Barbaresco DOCG.

Oenology

Hand-harvested, crushed, destemmed, temperature-controlled maceration for around 25 days. Aged for 24 months in barrels and demi-muids and 12 months in bottle.

Suggestions for accompaniment

Bresaola on a bed of rocket - Vinaigrette of veal loin cooked with string.

Lodali

The Lodali estate, run by Walter Lodali since 2005, embodies the excellence of Langhe wines. His charisma and passion for wine are reflected in vintages of great precision and remarkable finesse, carefully crafted to sublimate the region's unique terroir.

Barolo and Barbaresco are the jewels of the domain, but the other varietal cuvées are also distinguished by their balance and purity. The winery's philosophy is based on minimal intervention in the winemaking process, allowing the grapes and terroir to express themselves fully, an approach reminiscent of great estates such as Azienda Comm. GB Burlotto.

It was thanks to our friend Gianni Fabrizio (director of the Gambero Rosso guide) that we met Walter... and it was love at first sight.
