Château Bastor-Lamontagne, Sauternes - 2023

Viticulture

Château Bastor-Lamontagne is located in the commune of Preignac, one of the five villages in the Appellation. The 52-hectare vineyard stretches in a single block around the 18th-century Château. The Helfrich family have been the proud owners since 2018. The area's biodiversity is exceptional, with forests, acacia woods, parkland, vineyards and the River Ciron. The delicate fragrance of acacia flowers can be found in the Château Bastor-lamontagne bouquet, as well as in the honey produced by our bees. Nature is central to the lives of the entire team, and the vineyard has been certified organic since 2016. Area under production: 48 Ha.

Oenology

Some of the grapes are brought to the vat room in crates. The pressing is adapted to each sort and plot. Fermentation begins in small stainless steel vats. The must is transferred during fermentation to French oak barrels, some of which are new. Ageing 30% in new barrels for around 12 months.
