Cavesa le CAVE, le club des amateurs de vins exquis

Bas Armagnac Folle Blanche, Boingnères, 48% - 1981

Vinous: 98/100 (July 2018). "One of the finest examples of 100% Folle Blanche in all of Armagnac. This 31-year-old is light copper, with a complex floral bouquet of rose and almond blossom along with aromas of fig and candied orange that roll onto the palate, developing seamlessly into gingerbread on the midpalate and finishing fresh with notes of mint and licorice and that go on forever. Pretty, delicate, yet still dense and intense. A beautiful spirit that justifies its price. (Bas-Armagnac, 48% abv.)"

Characteristics

The estate is located in Le Frêche, in the heart of the Grand-bas-Armagnac, on tawny sands. Half of the vineyard is made up of Folle Blanche (11 ha), which produces very fine, elegant and bouqueted eaux de vie. A very difficult grape variety to grow, Folle Blanche is somewhat neglected and this makes it the special feature of the Boingnères estate.

Oenology

After fermentation, the wine is distilled and then stored in new barrels for two years. They are then transferred to older barrels that have removed most of their tannins.
